Turkey on Wednesday forced a Syrian passenger plane en route from Moscow to Damascus to land in Ankara, suspecting it of carrying warms for the Bashar al Assad regime.

“TRT says the Airbus A320 coming from Moscow was intercepted by F16 jets Wednesday as it entered Turkish airspace and escorted to the capital’s Esenboga Airport,” the Associated Press reports.

“A Turkish Foreign Ministry official confirmed that a Syrian plane was forced to land at Ankara airport, and that authorities were ‘inspecting the plane’ but would not provide further information,” the AP report said.
